This session will feature FAAA CEO Sarah Abood and Chant West General Manager Ian Fryer
Sarah will explain why the FAAA collaborated with Chant West on this initiative, how members contributed to the development of the framework, and why the rating is relevant to advisers and their clients.
Ian will outline the assessment methodology; the criteria applied and provide an overview of the super funds that met the required standard.

Meet your speakers
Sarah Abood
CEO, FAAA
Sarah Abood is Chief Executive Officer of the Financial Advice Association Australia (FAAA). She has over 25 years’ experience working in the financial services industry and she is a passionate advocate for financial planning. Sarah has a deep understanding of the financial planning profession, and the demands of running a financial planning practice. This was gained from her nine years as CEO of Profile Financial Services, a privately-owned and self-licensed financial planning firm and FPA Professional Practice. Prior to commencing as FAAA CEO, Ms Abood held the position of chief operating officer at HOPE Housing Funds Management. She has also worked in senior change and transformation, and marketing roles for some of Australia’s leading financial institutions. Sarah holds a BA from the University of Sydney, an MBA from Macquarie University (MGSM) and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Ian Fryer
General Manager, Chant West
Ian has been involved in the super industry for about 25 years and has been with Chant West for more than 16 years. As General Manger, Ian has overall responsibility for all of Chant West’s research and consulting services. Prior to becoming General Manager, Ian spent more than 15 years as the company’s Head of Research. A well-known industry figure, Ian is a respected leader and values the great relationships he has built across the broader sector. Helping super funds improve their operations and member services, and implement initiatives driving greater member outcomes, is Ian’s passion. He sees the role Chant West can play in supporting the improvement of funds as increasingly important in this era of greater scrutiny of member outcomes. Ian is a qualified actuary (AIAA), holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) from Sydney University, a Master of International Relations from Macquarie University and a Master of Arts (Theology) from the Australian College of Theology.
