Session Overview

Drought is a recurring feature of Australia’s landscape—and for many farmers across southern Australia, its impacts are being felt right now. Trusted advisors play a critical role in helping their community understand what support is available and how to access it. This presentation outlines the Australian Government’s approach to drought policy and available support, and importantly, highlights how as a trusted advisor in your community, you can share timely, practical information.

Guided by the National Drought Agreement and the Australian Government Drought Plan, Australia’s drought approach supports farmers and communities before, during and after drought. It focuses on building preparedness and resilience, whilst also ensuring support is available during hardship. You can play a key role in ensuring farmers and small businesses in your community understand their options and connect them with information so they can make informed decisions and access support when they need it.

The key message from this presentation is that drought support is available right across the drought cycle. As a trusted advisor for your community, you can help get the right information to the right people at the right time.
