Why is communication so hard? With 9 possibilities for misunderstanding it is important for us to be very clear in our messaging. This presentation will ask you to consider why you do what you do, the role of body language, different learning styles, co-regulation and different behaviours in conversation.
Using a mixture of research, neuro-linguistic programming insights, and personal anecdotes The Science of Conversation is designed to help newer advisers to have more effective client conversations and provides some timely reminders and tips for more seasoned professionals.

Gordon’s drive to demonstrate how super can make a difference in the lives of Australians is backed by more than 30 years’ experience in financial services. Over this time Gordon has witnessed a lot of change, which has taught him to maintain a consistent approach and develop tailored solutions for financial adviser and member needs. Prior to joining CareSuper, Gordon was a Senior Consultant (Partner Education) at MLC Life Insurance and in 2018 was part of the contributing team at Asteron Life, which won the AFA Life Company of the Year award for “The Sophisticated Adviser” education program in the Risk Product Innovation category.
Gordon’s communication and coaching experience comes in handy, allowing him to take complex concepts and easily explain them in everyday language. He holds an Advanced Diploma of Financial Services and is working towards becoming an accredited Divorce Coach.
Outside of work you can find Gordon with a guitar and singing it up at his local church. Gordon one day aims to walk the Great Wall of China and travel to Egypt to see the pyramids. He is also a proud White Ribbon Community Partner and father to his greyhound Effie.
