With the purchase of a home out of the reach of most first home buyers, baby boomer parents are being called upon to help out with their hard-earned retirement savings. And they are doing it in droves, often without legal advice or documentation to protect themselves. Financial advisors can play a crucial role in helping their clients to understand the pros and cons of gifting or lending – which one is better depends on the circumstances and can make all the difference. Finally we will look at how each impacts on the estate plan.
