The FAAA Professional Practice Program is a prestigious designation that recognises financial planning businesses that:

- Adhere strictly to the FAAA Professional Code
- Serve as role models in the financial planning community
- Demonstrate a commitment to and the CFP® designation
- Demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement within their businesses and advice practices

The program is designed for forward-thinking financial planning practices that are committed to excellence, transparency, and professional integrity. We seek practices that:
- Are proud of their professional standards
- Show an ongoing commitment to the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® certification program
- Can demonstrate a robust approach to client service
- Are willing to showcase their commitment to excellence through comprehensive documentation of processes and procedures
- View professional validation as an opportunity for growth and recognition and are prepared to submit to a rigorous application assessment process and pay the non-refundable application fee
Application validation process

The Professional Practice brand will only be offered to those practices that meet strict eligibility criteria and fit with the professional expectations of our community. For that reason, your application requires a range of details about your Practice to enable the FAAA to get a better understanding of who will carry this symbol of professional financial planning.

Note that your practice must have completed at least one full year in the Professional Practice Program before your practice is eligible to apply for the Professional Practice of the Year award.
The application process
Are you eligible?
Our program is designed for established financial planning practices that are committed to professional excellence.
The FAAA Professional Practice program is open to practices that have been operating in their current licensing structure for at least one year, including
- Self-licensed financial planning practices
- Practices authorised under a dealer group AFSL
Specific eligibility criteria
To qualify, your practice must have met the following requirements for the full 12 months of the last membership year:
Membership Composition
- 75% of financial planners must be FAAA members (CFP professionals, Financial Planner AFP/Practitioner, or FAAA Provisional Planners)
- 50% of financial planners are CFP® professionals (or will become CFP Professionals by 30 June 2026)
Professional Commitment
- Commit to upholding the FAAA Professional Code
- Have at least one CFP professional member appointed as the Relationship Manager
- Participate in an annual review to confirm ongoing adherence to program criteria.
Business Diagnostic
- Complete a comprehensive business diagnostic
- Demonstrate excellence across key business metrics
