Sarah Abood
Chief Executive Officer
Sarah Abood is Chief Executive Officer of the Financial Advice Association Australia (FAAA). She has over 25 years’ experience working in the financial services industry and she is a passionate advocate for financial planning.
Sarah has a deep understanding of the financial planning profession, and the demands of running a financial planning practice. This was gained from her nine years as CEO of Profile Financial Services, a privately-owned and self-licensed financial planning firm and FPA Professional Practice.
Prior to commencing as FAAA CEO, Ms Abood held the position of chief operating officer at HOPE Housing Funds Management. She has also worked in senior change and transformation, and marketing roles for some of Australia’s leading financial institutions. Sarah holds a BA from the University of Sydney, an MBA from Macquarie University (MGSM) and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Phil Anderson
GM Policy, Advocacy & Standards
Phil Anderson is General Manager – Policy, Advocacy and Standards at the Financial Advice Association Australia (FAAA). Prior to this, in two separate stints he spent over 10 years at the Association of Financial Advisers (AFA), most recently as CEO, prior to its successful merger with the Financial Planning Association (FPA) to form the FAAA.
At the AFA, he also served as General Manager, Policy and Professionalism between 2017 and 2022, and as Chief Operating Officer from 2011 to 2015.
Phil has almost 30 years’ experience in financial advice, regulatory change, advocacy, risk management, compliance, project management, operations and finance. He has previously worked for Netwealth as General Manager Governance and Advice, and Colonial First State, where he was the Head of Risk Management & Compliance for the CFS Advice business. He has also held senior roles with Perpetual, NAB and AMP. Phil holds a Master of Commerce (management accounting) from the University of NSW, and is a CPA as well as holding an Advanced Diploma of Financial Planning from Kaplan.
Tania Milnes
GM Membership
Tania Milnes is General Manager – Membership at the Financial Advice Association Australia (FAAA), a position she has held since 2021. She has over 20 years’ experience in business management, operations and growth, with a particular focus on financial planning and mortgage broking businesses.
Prior to joining the FAAA, she was with Mortgage Choice for over 14 years in a number of management roles, including General Manager, Mortgage Choice Financial Planning. She has also run her own consulting practice, helping business owners and CEOs take their business to the next level.
Tania has a Masters in Languages / International Management from the University of Waikato (NZ), a Diploma of Financial Services (Financial Planning) from Kaplan and a Diploma of Financial Services (finance/mortgage broking management) from AAMC Training Group.
Anne Palmer
GM Education
Anne Palmer is General Manager – Education at the Financial Advice Association Australia (FAAA), a position she has held since 2021. Her areas of responsibility are the CFP® designation, the CPD programs, student and university engagement as well as new entrants and the Career Centre.
Anne has worked in both the financial services and the higher education sector for over ten years and has developed an understanding of the needs of both students, universities and the profession. She has pioneered many programs at the FAAA such as the scholarships program, administering over $2.2 million in grants and scholarships to further educational opportunities in the sector. Her experience includes six years with Western Sydney University managing various teams including scholarships, marketing and recruitment, and research and development projects. She holds an honours degree from Durham University and a Graduate Diploma in Finance from INSEAD.
