Session Overview
Many Australians spend years preparing financially for retirement, yet retirement readiness involves more than having enough money to live well.
The structures that have shaped everyday life can change significantly when work ends. Routine, identity, purpose, relationships and everyday social connection can all be affected. Retirement is also a major life transition, and transitions are times when people can become particularly aware of loneliness and social disconnection.
In this webinar, Phil McAuliffe from Humans:Connecting and Tatia Power from Inclusee will introduce the concept of social health, explore its role in retirement readiness and why people can be financially prepared for retirement yet socially underprepared for what comes next.
Drawing on research, lived experience, real-world examples and practical experience supporting people to live socially well, Phil and Tatia will help advisers recognise the social changes and risk factors that emerge around retirement, understand how these can affect their clients’ wellbeing and retirement experience, and consider how conversations about social health can complement the financial advice process.
The session offers advisers a broader lens through which to understand and support successful retirement outcomes.
