FPA Financial Planner AFP® of the Year

Entry requirements

• You hold Financial Planner AFP^® status
• You provide advice face-to-face (in-person or virtually) on a daily basis to clients
• You have a clear compliance record

The judges are looking for

• Lives the ‘client first’ principle
• Examples of how you have made a meaningful and positive difference in the lives of your clients
• Examples of how you have personally upheld the highest professional and ethical standards

Entry process

• Part 1: Video submission to be submitted through the FPA Awards online portal – a judging panel will review the applications and select finalists
• Part 2: Written submission with supporting evidence. Finalists to present to the judging panel.*
  *An audit may also be required to take place at the finalist’s place of work as part of the finalist review process.

Video submission requirements

Minimum three minutes – maximum 10 minutes (videos over 10 minutes will not be considered)

Addresses the following four questions:

1. How have you (the adviser) made a positive contribution to the profession over the last year?
2. How have you demonstrated you live the ‘client first’ principle?
3. How have you demonstrated you uphold the highest professional and ethical standards, as outlined by the FPA Professional Code of Practice?
4. How do you stand apart relative to your peers?

Videos should be uploaded to Youtube or Vimeo.

Written submission requirements

The written submission must answer the questions below.

1. Provide details of how you have demonstrated that you live the ‘client first’ principle (500 words)
2. Provide details of how you have demonstrated that you have made a positive contribution to the Profession (500 words)
3. Provide details of how you have demonstrated that you have upheld the highest professional and ethical standards as outlined in the FPA Professional Code of Practice (500 words)
4. Have you received a client complaint or lodged a complaint on PI in the last two years? If you answered yes, please explain how it was resolved (max 500 words)

Required supporting documents

• Provide one comprehensive Statement of Advice (SOA) which supports your best work in relation to supporting Question 1. Please delete/change client names and details to protect client anonymity. Please be aware that additional SOA’s may be requested at a later stage. SOA to have been completed in 2021 or 2022.
• Additional documents such as PDF’s, Appendices, Powerpoint presentations, and/or strategy papers which support your application may be uploaded here. Please ensure appendix is separated from the body of the SOA. Working papers can be included.

Finalists’ interview

An interview of up to 45 minutes with the judges will be conducted on the following dates, and applicants should ensure they are available during these dates:

• Friday 4^th November
• Monday 7^th November
• Tuesday 8^th November
