FPSB reports record number of CFP® professionals worldwide

The Financial Planning Standards Board (FPSB), the global licensing body for the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® designation, this week reported another year of growth with a 3.3 per cent global rise in the number of CFP® professionals in 2018.

FPSB reports it added 5,787 CFP professionals, raising the total number of CFP professionals to a record 181,360 worldwide. Australia has the world’s fifth largest network with 5,694 CFP professionals.

Commenting on the global growth of the CFP Certification Program, Dante De Gori CFP®, CEO of the FPA, said: “The continued growth of the CFP designation worldwide demonstrates that it is the global symbol of excellence in financial planning – it is the only financial planning designation that requires financial planners to adhere to world class professional and ethical standards.

“The number of CFP professionals in Australia has fallen by eight but I believe this is a positive result considering the pressure and uncertainty of the Financial Adviser Standards and Ethics Authority’s (FASEA) new educational and professional standards. The FPA has filed for formal recognition of the CFP designation from FASEA to ensure our CFP professional members receive appropriate accreditation.

“It is very important for Australians to know what to look for when they are seeking financial advice. The CFP designation is the globally recognised gold standard in advice, and research shows that people who work with a CFP professional generally feel more confident in achieving their financial goals.”
