Session Overview
Property investors regularly miss depreciation deductions they’re entitled to, and financial advisers are often the first to notice the gap, without always having a clear next step. This session breaks down what tax depreciation is, why it gets overlooked, and how a depreciation schedule actually works.
Jade Brierley, Business Development Managaer at TDA, brings a sales and mortgage broking background to the topic rather than a technical one, which shapes the session around the adviser’s vantage point: what to listen for in a client conversation, and when a depreciation schedule is worth raising. The session covers residential versus commercial properties, new builds versus established properties, and how renovations and plant and equipment affect a claim. Using anonymised client case studies, Jade walks through TDA’s inspection and report process.
This is not tax advice content. It positions depreciation as an evidence-gathering exercise that supports the conversations advisers are already having with clients and their accountants.
