Session Overview

Cyber resilience has rapidly become a core obligation for AFSLs and advice practices, driven by escalating threats, increasing regulatory expectations, and the need for demonstrable evidence that cyber controls are operating effectively. This session provides a practical, non‑technical exploration of what “good cyber resilience” now looks like for financial advice businesses, and how practices can confidently meet their obligations without unnecessary complexity or cost.

Drawing on industry insights and real‑world observations across AFSL groups, the session will outline the fundamental cyber controls that every practice should have in place, how to assess whether those controls are proportionate and effective, and what evidence licensees are increasingly expected to maintain. We will also explore the impact of AI‑enabled threats, the rise in ACSC cyber alerts, and why financial services remains one of the most targeted sectors.

Attendees will leave with a clear understanding of the practical steps required to uplift cyber resilience, improve governance, and prepare regulator‑ready documentation. The focus is on simple, actionable measures that advisers, practice managers, and licensee leaders can implement immediately to strengthen their cyber posture and reduce operational risk.
