Voting is now open!
Voting has now closed! Results will be announced soon.
The Constitution of the Financial Advice Association Australia (FAAA) requires that the Board consists of six Ordinary Members elected in accordance with the FAAA Regulation: Elections of which at least four Elected Directors must be practising CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professionals and a majority of the Directors must be practitioners.
This election is being called for three (3) Ordinary Member Elected Director positions on the FAAA Board. The term of appointment for these Elected Directors will be three (3) years in accordance with clause 40 of the FAAA Constitution.
All Ordinary Members are eligible to stand for election, propose or second nominations and vote.
Ordinary Members who are nominated must have renewed their membership for the 2026/27 financial year.
Process to follow
Please take time to read the FAAA Board Charter, Officer’s Code of Conduct and the FAAA Member Director Role Description prior to starting a nomination.
Members will be sent an email on Tuesday 1 September 2026 calling for nominations for three new Director positions on the FAAA Board. All Ordinary Members will be provided with a link to the online nomination form.
The online nomination form is structured to allow FAAA Ordinary Members the opportunity to compare candidates, ensuring transparency in the election process. The nomination form comprises the following four questions which each require an answer of no more than 200 words each.
- Your recent active involvement with the FAAA via work with Committees/Chapters/Communities, outlining your key successes and achievements.
- Previous Board and Executive experience (including not-for profits and associations) and demonstrated track record as a Director, identifying knowledge of corporate governance, strategic planning and risk management.
- Financial literacy and history of running a complex business.
- Your FAAA membership category, current role and day to day business activities in relation to the provision of financial advice to retail customers.
- Your ‘Pitch’ to members including (optionally) your contact details.
The current board of directors can be found here.
We recommend that applicants plan their answers carefully and then copy and paste into the online form. On completion of the nomination form, you will be prompted to confirm the following:
- That you have read, and agree to abide by the FAAA Board Charter and Officer’s Code of Conduct.
- That you have read the FAAA Elected Director Role Description and if elected, will give your commitment to the time required to discharge the role and responsibilities.
- That you have undertaken appropriate AICD training (or the equivalent). If you do not, that you are willing to undertake this training within the first 12 months of appointment.
- That you are willing to undergo satisfactory character checks (including police checks, credit checks and FAAA professional team checks as to professional conduct).
- That you are willing to sign the Deed of Access and Indemnity on appointment.
- That you acknowledge in any previous dealings with the FAAA (which includes both AFA and FPA), certain information may have been disclosed to you for the purpose of participating on committees, chapters, communities and/or other volunteer roles, which is private and confidential. This may include but is not limited to, membership databases, reports, submissions, case studies or proposals. This information must NOT be used for the purposes of the election.
- That you agree during your election campaign to comply with the National Privacy Principles and all privacy laws when handling “personal information” and “sensitive information” as those terms are defined in the Privacy Act.
- That you have completed the Personal Declaration Form and emailed a copy to the Returning Officer at returningofficer@faaa.au.
You will also have the facility to upload a small photograph of yourself in jpeg format. Your application must be seconded by two FAAA Ordinary Members who are currently renewed for the 2026/2027 financial year.
After submitting your application, you will be contacted by a member of the FAAA Board. They will confirm that you are fully informed about the role and the commitment and responsibilities attached to it. No nomination will be endorsed. As a result of Member feedback, we no longer provide nominees with membership data for the purposes of campaigning. You will have an opportunity to amend your nomination prior to voting opening in October 2026.
