CFP® Professional Connect

The Psychology of Advice

Join us the day before Congress for a workshop and networking event exclusively for CFP® professionals, exploring the Psychology of Advice, with 3 hours CPD.

The CFP Certification program is evolving to include a new knowledge domain: the psychology of financial planning. This session will explore new material that will be released globally at the end of the calendar year via a new text-book: Psychology in Practice: Financial Planner Essentials. Be among the first in Australia to workshop the concepts.

This ground-breaking book explores how psychology, counselling, coaching and therapy integrate within the financial planning process and enhance the role of a financial planner. Behavioural finance is a growing area, but content to date has largely focused on the intersection of psychology and financial behaviour, Psychology in Practice: Financial Planner Essentials goes beyond this to explore new research in the psychology of financial planning. Published by the Financial Planning Standards Board Ltd. (FPSB), the content provides insights based on the financial planning process and demonstrates the practical application of this knowledge.

This exclusive workshop, for Australian CFP Professionals, is facilitated by one of the Australian authors of the book and provides a first-hand introduction to the common biases and heuristics seen in financial advice client behaviours. Attendees will come away with a deeper understanding of the client decision-making process as they examine processes that enable financial planning professionals to successfully guide clients through the financial advice journey. Participants will be challenged to consider their own biases and how they can impact the financial planning process. Prizes at the event will include copies of the book and a limited number of e-books will be available for attendees to purchase on the day, at a significantly discounted price. This session is accredited for 3 hours of CPD.

Please note that access to this exclusive session is limited to CFP® professionals, FChFP members enrolled in the CFP® Certification Program, and individuals currently enrolled in the CFP® Certification Program.
